W2H: How to build support for PNG format


Due to marvellous (and quickly done) piece of code of Michael Schmitz , a co-author of hp2xx converting software, W2H provides now a graphical output also in PNG format (Portable Network Graphics). This is an additional graphic format, not a replacement of already provided ones. You must have Netscape 4.04 (or later) to display the PNG images.

New converter requires to have installed also additional libraries libpng and zlib. Both are included in W2H distribution for your convenience but you can check their home locations to be sure that you have the latest versions (see Readme files in the packages). The packages are in subdirectory w2h/graphic-viewer.

I have compiled both on Solaris and it seemed to be very easy. I had to make only two small changes (after unpacking all packages in w2h directory):
