SESSION TITLE: How To Use the Baldrige Criteria - A Hands On Session

SESSION DESCRIPTION: This session presents a brief overview of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Performance Excellence Criteria, followed by a hands-on exercise in which participants analyze case-study data within the results section of a Baldrige application. This is followed by a debriefing of the exercise, a presentation of the Baldrige analysis, and an overview of the relationship between Baldrige and the field of statistics. The focus of the session is to show how Baldrige criteria may be used in both the private and government sectors for organizational improvement.

• Overview of Baldrige Criteria - 15 minutes
• Introduction to group exercise
• Distribution of "Results" section of case study, and form groups - 5 minutes
• Group work (qualitative and quantitative analysis) - 40 minutes
• Debrief group discussion with all participants- 15 minutes
• Presentation of Baldrige case study analysis of same data - 10 minutes
• How does Baldrige relate to the statistics field, and how can it be used to improve private and government sector organizations? - 20 minutes
