Kevin Coombes: Photography

Extramadura, Spain, Spring 2004

My daughter spent the school year of 2003-2004 studying in Spain, in a program run by School Year Abroad. Over Easter break, I visited her and we took a trip to Extremadura, which is a Spanish province along the border with Portugal. We spent most of our time in Merida, which has some fantastic art and architecture dating back to the Romans. The mosaics, in particular, are incredible, as is the theatre, the amphitheatre, and the circus maximus.

We also took side trips to Caceres, where much of the medieval town survives, and Badajoz.
